Kullorsuaq, un village aux confins du Groenland
L’an dernier nous découvrions, au cours d’une interview, le parcours atypique de Nicolas Dubreuil. Cet explorateur-photographe venait de publier son 3ème livre relatant la découverte de Kullorsuaq, un village situé au fin fond du Groenland. Le soir même, nous commandions ce titre. Depuis, nous replongeons régulièrement dans son univers, que nous partageons avec vous aujourd’hui !
Papou lit peu de romans, il est plutôt attiré par les notices techniques. Plaisir ou obligation ? Il faudra lui poser la question ! Nicolas Dubreuil avoue qu’il réalisa sa première expédition l’année de ses 18 printemps plutôt « parce qu’il avait été mis devant le fait accompli par un ami de ses parents ». Après avoir passé 1 mois à remonter seul en kayak les côtes de l’Alaska, il se jura alors de ne plus jamais repartir. Pourtant… on dit bien qu’une fois qu’on a connu le frisson de l’aventure, on ne peut plus s’en passer…
Cet enseignant en informatique claque finalement la porte de la faculté où il exerce pour partir explorer le Grand Nord. Depuis 25 ans, il sillonne à pied mais également en traîneau, kayak ou ski, les coins les plus reculés du Grand Nord. Alors lorsqu’il entend « parler d’un village, dernier bastion des chasseurs traditionnels groenlandais », il décide de tenter une expédition à ski jusqu’à Kullorsuaq. Titus, un ami inuit – celui-là même qui lui avait sauvé la vie alors que la glace avait cédé sous mon poids -, le prévient : « Attention Nikoula ! Là-bas, les hommes sont durs, très traditionnels ! Tout y est très sale ! » J’étais encore plus motivé… ».

De son périple pour atteindre Kullorsuaq à son intégration dans ce nouvel environnement, en passant par la découverte des coutumes locales, il se livre sans langue de bois sur « ce monde à part » dont il ne serait se passer à présent.
